Kukkula Winery

Set on 88 acres in Paso Robles, California, the Kukkula Winery is located down the hill from the Jussila Residence completed in 2008. The project’s framework is a steel structure that is partially buried into the hillside; the skin of the building is a series of metal panels and caged rock. The program consists of separate spaces for barrel storage, processing, and case goods. The tasting room is an intersecting floating cube yielding views into the barrel room and the fertile landscapes. The project is scheduled to begin construction in the fall of 2009.
