Eroded Cube
A ‘quiet’ solution was requested by the Owners that would nestle into the heavily wooded site and disappear from view. The wood exterior shall be left to weather and the stone slabs shall be chiseled from a granite quarry keeping the striations from the extraction process mimicking aspen trees. A detached guest house of the same vocabulary is planned which serves as a cue to the project’s architecture upon arrival into the remote site. The main level plan has the public spaces with all bedrooms at the upper level enjoying the alpine views. A vertical circulation stair unites the 3 levels. A rooftop terrace is planned to stargaze and a pool/sauna/Japanese soaking tub are planned in the landscape architecture.
