Boulder House

“The Boulder House is ideally situated on a plateau facing the Flatirons. It is designed to be a reflection of the local culture, which is progressive, modern and highly focused on environmental sensitivity. This has been achieved by synthesizing multiple architectural and sustainable building concepts. The plan is a hybrid of two axes; one which follows the existing contours and terrain, while the other is cantilevered to provide an east-west alignment for better solar alignment and to take advantage of desired views. Each volume along an axis has been defined by its own material palette. Both axes are anchored by a stone “core,” which houses many of the utilitarian functions of the project. The design integrates into the site by providing several terraces, pools and garden spaces which flow in and out of the architecture. This project also incorporates many sustainable features such as; PV panels, solar water heaters, a green roof, and high efficiency MEP components.”
