Lord Residence
This flat 1-acre site lies at the entry to Aspen and enjoys a panoramic view, which focuses on Pyramid Peak and the Maroon Bells. Because of the proximity to not only the highway, but from visual impacts to the areas views, the solution was required by zoning officials to be ‘low in posture’. The project is a 1-story low-rise residence that employs materials, textures and hues to minimize any impact it may have from a visitor’s experience. Program is divided between a public zone, private wing, and a guest/children’s area. The exterior material palate is rammed earth; vertical rusted steel panels, sandblasted masonry block and zinc roofing. Construction was completed in November of 2005.
