Manifestos on Modernism
May 11, 2011_Curious about what modern [or Modern] really means? Everyone is talking about modern architecture, but are we talking about the same thing? At its simplest, "modern" means "a current development" or "a spirit in step with its own time." But contemporary architecture is complex, and our regional architecture encompasses a range of methods, materials, and concepts. Similarly, opinions on questions like, "What does modern mean in Colorado?" or "What is the future of modern?" are vastly varied. Scott Lindenau, FAIA of Studio B Architects to join panel discussion of "Manifestos on Modernism: A Lively Dialogue on the Evolving Meaning of 'Modern' in Colorado Architecture."
Wednesday May 11, 2011 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Registration: For pre-registration [through May 9, 5 p.m.] please call 720.913.0044 or email cgrzelak@denverartmuseum.org.

Julius Shulman: Visual Acoustics_Film Screening
April 28 2011_Scott Lindenau joins a distinguished panel discussion following a free screening of VISUAL ACOUSTICS at the Wheeler Opera House. Narrated by Dustin Hoffman, VISUAL ACOUSTICS celebrates the life and career of Julius Shulman, the world’s greatest architectural photographer, whose images brought modern architecture to the American mainstream. Shulman, who passed away this year, captured the work of nearly every modern and progressive architect since the 1930s including Frank Lloyd Wright, Richard Neutra, John Lautner and Frank Gehry. His images epitomized the singular beauty of Southern California’s modernist movement and brought its iconic structures to the attention of the general public. This unique film is both a testament to the evolution of modern architecture and a joyful portrait of the magnetic, whip-smart gentleman who chronicled it with his unforgettable images.

nove 2 featured by aeccafe
March 31st 2011_Nove 2 is a stone ‘wedge’ which hints to the owners’ art collection housed primarily within its double-height space. This vaulted space not only houses art, but is central to the plan and is the public loci of the house. The interplay of natural light within the twenty foot volume changes personality as the day unfolds. The site is adjacent to the Aspen Institute originally designed by Herbert Bayer and this house respects Aspen’s ‘modernist’ history.
